The origins of our company trace back to Whelen Engineering, which was founded in 1952 by George W Whelen III. He invented the first rotating aircraft “anti-collision” beacon in his Deep River, Connecticut garage. In 1991, Roy LoPresti, an aeronautical engineer, and ex-Air Force pilot, founded LoPresti Aviation in Sebastian, Florida.

In 2019, Whelen Engineering’s Aviation Division and LoPresti Aviation merged to form Whelen Aerospace Technologies. As the global leader in high-end lighting products for the aerospace industry, our experienced staff designs, engineers, and manufactures high-quality products that prioritize safety, visibility, and recognition for aircraft across all platforms. We work closely with OEM and service provider networks to create high-performance products that enhance the pilot experience and ensure safety of flight.
